Aviation Museums

Institutions that acquire, preserve, research and exhibit permanent and/or traveling collections of artifacts which relate to the history of manned flight from its earliest beginnings through modern space flight. Included may be exhibits that explain the scientific principles of flight; displays that document the major milestones in the history of aviation; materials relating to air combat in World Wars I and II, and other conflicts; historical aviation photographs; aviation art; memorabilia of aviators, astronauts and other famous persons; model airplanes; airplane engines or other sample parts; authentic examples or replicas of commercial, civilian and military airplanes, hot air balloons, helicopters and other aircraft from different eras; and exhibits relating to the conquest of space.
